I had an issue where I informed that statistics need to be gathered on tables /indexes in the new schema. But in reponse, it was said that the statists are gathered on a regular basis by scheduled jobs by the DBA.

I am finding a big difference in while taking count for the number of rows and num_rows in a table.

What I know is if statistics were uoto date then there will be no difference in the number of rows (count) and NUM_ROWS value.

Please let me know if I am wrong here.

Regards,
Oli

It depends on how the statistics were computed or estimated and the activity on your table.
LAST_ANALYZED column gives you when the statistics were last gathered.
